On July 1, Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania will welcome Pamela McCauley, Ph.D., as the new Dean of the School of Engineering. Dr. McCauley is a distinguished scholar, educator, entrepreneur, and university administrator. Her expertise lies in developing mathematical models based on fuzzy set theory, human engineering, biomechanics, and engineering leadership.
She has been a vocal advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in engineering and higher education for underrepresented groups in STEM. Dr. McCauley has garnered numerous awards throughout her career, including the distinction of being the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in engineering in Oklahoma.
Dr. McCauley has conducted extensive research in the field of human engineering in information systems, focusing on the human impact on information security, interactions between humans and technology in disaster management, and creating simulations and technologies to streamline high-consequence disaster management using artificial intelligence (AI).
She also hosts a podcast called "Stepping Up STEM," where she engages in discussions about challenges faced by marginalized communities in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
In the podcast, she invites influential leaders to share their experiences on creating a more diverse and inclusive community in STEM education, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Tune in to learn from these inspiring individuals.
