The President and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, Theodore (Ted) Colbert III, recently spoke with Vago Muradian from Defense & Aerospace Report ahead of the Paris Air Show.
Colbert shared that his company has been working hard to bring stability to its operations, as well as returning the business to profitable growth. This has included consolidating their business units, accelerating their efforts around Lean manufacturing, and establishing a COO organization to help run their programs and factories more efficiently.
Additionally, Colbert emphasized the importance of creating a culture of trust and transparency within the company to foster innovation and collaboration among team members.

Colbert was named Black Engineer of the Year 2022 by US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine. The award recognizes leaders who have expanded opportunities for African-Americans in STEM.
Colbert has worked with students, faculty, and administrators to support and empower underserved and minority populations. Boeing has invested over $10 million in partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities and developed programs that have increased HBCU intern hiring by more than 400%. Colbert was honored at the 36th annual BEYA STEM Conference in Washington, D.C. on February 17, 2022.
