STEM City USA, Career Communications Group's award-winning metaverse, is proud to sponsor a Juneteenth Celebration on Wednesday, June 19, in downtown Baltimore.
Presented by The AFRO News, the two-hour event will feature keynote speaker Karsonya "Kaye" Wise Whitehead, the founding director of The Karson Institute for Race, Peace, and Social Justice.
In 2022, Dr. Kaye received the Vernon Jarrett Medal for Journalistic Excellence from Morgan State University's School of Global Journalism and Communication for Outstanding Reporting on the Impact Racial Reckoning Has Had in Helping to Close the Social/Racial Wealth Gap for Black People in America.
The 2024 Juneteenth event will honor leaders and institutions that have played an essential role in promoting the significance and history of this important day.
This year's theme, "Celebrating the Black Press," underlines the mission of recognizing those charged with chronicling stories. Other event sponsors include Morgan State University, Maryland's leading historically Black college and university (HBCU).
