Howard University's Research Week celebrates the university’s research enterprise, which is comprised of external grants and contracts, scholarly projects, and outstanding creative works.
During April, students and faculty exhibited poster and oral presentations in several areas including biological and biomedical sciences, and translational and clinical sciences.
Computer science student Candace Williams won the undergraduate award in the physical sciences and engineering category for her research submission titled Safe Space: Using Gamification to Provide Medical Recommendations for Sickle Cell Patients in Preadolescence.
Candace is a sophomore and undergraduate researcher in the Affective Biometrics Lab exploring the impact of Human-Centered Computing.
Candace's research is supported by the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation program and the National Science Foundation. She aspires to attend graduate school and create inclusion through technology.
