EON Reality, a leader in augmented and virtual reality learning, has awarded Clark Atlanta University an $11.8 million grant to bring the "Knowledge Metaverse" to the historically Black college and university (HBCU) community. The EON-extended reality (XR) solutions provided through the grant will enable Clark Atlanta, the first HBCU to receive this award, to offer training to their faculty and students augmenting traditional in-person and online instruction.
The Knowledge Metaverse is a digital grassroots movement. And EON Reality’s network of more than 1.4 million users, who contribute to building this metaverse, has created an XR library for education and industry with over 2.16 million 3D assets and counting.
“Clark Atlanta University remains dedicated to our scholars and equipping us with the best resources and innovative technologies,” said President George T. French Jr. “As we accelerate our momentum, these essential partnerships support our efforts to step into the future of interactive teaching and learning through relevant and future-focused innovations.
Notable Clark Atlanta alumni include James Weldon Johnson, civil rights activist, poet, and songwriter; Ralph David Abernathy Sr., civil rights activist; Jacque Reid, Emmy Award-winning television personality and Journalist; Brandon Thompson, vice president of diversity and inclusion for NASCAR; and Valeisha Butterfield Jones, chief diversity and inclusion officer at the Recording Academy.
“Partnering with a respected HBCU like Clark Atlanta University, whose graduates shape our world every year, demonstrates the impact EON-XR can have on the future of academia and the sciences,” says EON Reality founder Dan Lejerskar. Clark Atlanta University is an invaluable addition to EON Reality’s network of U.S. institutions. The university brings its rich social justice history and research-intensive instruction to the Knowledge Metaverse. “When a university with its commitment to social justice and deep focus on digital learning can utilize and add to the Knowledge Metaverse, the possibilities for reshaping our society are endless. I can’t wait to see how Clark Atlanta University incorporates EON Reality’s solutions into their curriculum.”
