North Carolina A&T State University's College of Science and Technology has selected 26 incoming freshmen to join the second cohort of SciTech Scholars for the 2020-21 academic school year. The program provides a two (2) year renewable scholarship of $4,000 a semester offered by the College of Science and Technology at North Carolina A&T.
“We are very excited to welcome and support our newest cohort members who aspire to develop novel technologies and make scientific discoveries that solve global issues,” said Angela White, Ph.D., College of Science and Technology assistant dean of student success in a statement.
Last school year, the first cohort toured Cisco Systems and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and participated in community-engaged learning experiences with elementary, middle, and high school students. They will serve as mentors for the incoming cohort. According to N.C. A&T, this year’s scholars have an average cumulative GPA of 3.82 and average math SAT score of 583.
Only freshmen who plan to enroll in the upcoming fall semester are eligible. The scholarship is awarded to talented college-bound high school seniors based on demonstrated academic achievement, financial need, and an expressed interest in pursuing a degree program in either chemistry, physics, mathematics, or electronics technology.
