Last fall, Boston Scientific Corporation launched "Healthy Doses" in STEM City USA, Career Communications Group's award-winning metaverse. Held in the Boston Scientific auditorium of STEM City, Healthy Doses is designed as an online series of conversations that focus on health and wellbeing.
One of the first sessions sponsored by Boston Scientific featured topics such as pain and the lack of diversity in clinical trials; obesity and its impact on the Black community, as well as blocked arteries in a time of Covid-19. Keynote speakers from United States-based Boston Scientific medical staff included scientists such as Nilesh Patel, chief medical officer for neuromodulation; Kapil Gupta, senior director for endoscopy, and Michael Jaff, vice president for clinical affairs peripheral intervention. The event was moderated by Camille Chang Gilmore, vice president of human resources and global chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer.
In April 2022, Boston Scientific, a manufacturer of medical devices used in interventional medical specialties, announced that it makes mental well-being a priority through thick and thin. "A key lesson of the pandemic is that we must keep mental health squarely on the workplace agenda," the company's press release said.
According to mental health dot gov, which provides one-stop access to U.S. government mental health information, the White House has directed the U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Education to launch a national dialogue on mental health with young people; members of the faith community, foundations, and school and business leaders. The national discussion takes place through community conversations, public/private partnership commitments, and an online resource for people looking for information about how individuals can seek help, and how communities can host conversations on mental health.
For the return of Healthy Doses on STEM City USA, this weekend's episode features Dr. Tiffany Anderson, a licensed graduate marriage and family therapist. As a mental health provider and educator, she believes that personal liberation is attainable through a comprehensive approach.
Dr. Anderson, a proud Black psychotherapist, created Crown Therapy, LLC to cultivate a light-filled community that supports mental health and spiritual growth. She specializes in individual, couples, and family therapy. Her practice dismantles generational traumas, fosters spiritual awareness, empowers one’s self-identity, interrupts pathological patterns, and ignites intimate connections and family relationships.
Anderson obtained a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Drexel University and a doctorate in counselor education and supervision at Loyola University in Maryland. Her research includes African spirituality, racial and cultural equities, the African American female God-image, community trauma, coping and resilience, and generational pathologies.
In her spare time, Dr. Anderson likes to read self-help books, dance to oldies, sing India Arie songs like no one is watching, and host game nights for friends and family. We cordially invite you to join us every Saturday for "Healthy Doses" with Dr. Anderson. The conversations can be accessed at STEM City USA.
