The National Minority Health Association has announced that Denise Pines, immediate past president of the Medical Board of California and former CEO of the Tavis Smiley Group, has joined the association's board of directors.
"We are honored to have someone of Denise's caliber, talent, and expertise as a board member," said Burgess Harrison, executive director of the National Minority Health Association.
The National Minority Health Association was founded in 1988 by Dr. David L. Dalton, who currently chairs the organization's board of directors. The association achieved its initial mission of ensuring the establishment of Offices of Minority Health in all 50 states, and today is adding to its mission for minority and underserved communities, by deploying new programs that utilize patient-centered, value-based care, and new ways of enhancing care to patients where they are. The NMHA is also leading the fight for health equity with the Health Equity Action Leaders network (HEAL).
Recently, the NMHA announced a partnership with EagleForce™ Health to promote a national immunization management system, which has been deployed to serve as a single national platform for the emergency authorization of the COVID-19 vaccines. MyVax™ is designed to provide every man, woman, and child access to their own COVID-19 Vaccination Information and Medical Information for 25 years.
Along with the NMHA, Denise sits on the Martin Luther King Community Hospital Foundation board and serves in leadership positions in the California University of Science and Medicine School of Medicine, the Triple Step Toward the Cure, and the Taiwan Tea Manufacturers Association.
An experienced leader with a history of working in the medical practice industry, Denise is skilled in nonprofit organizations, government, sales, entrepreneurship, and event management. She is also a business development professional with a Master of Business Administration focused in International Business from John F. Kennedy University.
Denise is co-author of FemAging: HealthTech Report, founder of the Wise Pause Lifestyle summit, and the executive producer of the award-winning film, "PUSHOUT: The Criminalization of Black Girls in School," an example of her production of informative and empowering events and media programs.
Denise is also the co-founder of "Hot Flash Tea" by Tea Botanics, a custom brand of teas for hormonal balance and wellness in menopause.
