STEM City USA, Career Communications Group’s award-winning metaverse, is proud to sponsor a Juneteenth Celebration on Wednesday, June 19, in downtown Baltimore.

Presented by The AFRO News, the two-hour event will feature keynote speaker Karsonya “Kaye” Wise Whitehead, the founding director of The Karson Institute for Race, Peace, and Social Justice.

In 2022, Dr. Kaye received the Vernon Jarrett Medal for Journalistic Excellence from Morgan State University’s School of Global Journalism and Communication for Outstanding Reporting on the Impact Racial Reckoning Has Had in Helping to Close the Social/Racial Wealth Gap for Black People in America.

The 2024 Juneteenth event will honor leaders and institutions that have played an essential role in promoting the significance and history of this important day.

This year’s theme, “Celebrating the Black Press,” underlines the mission of recognizing those charged with chronicling stories. Other event sponsors include Morgan State University, Maryland’s leading historically Black college and university (HBCU).

This year, the Multicultural Center at the University of Nevada, Reno, has announced it will participate in the 36th Annual Juneteenth Festival at Rancho San Rafael Park.

Organized by the Northern Nevada Black Cultural Awareness Society (NNBCAS), this year’s theme is “Unity in Diversity: Honoring Our Shared Heritage,” emphasizing the celebration of our shared humanity and heritage.

California State University will be livestreaming its second biennial Juneteenth Symposium, designed to elevate the celebration and recognition of African American history and achievement while promoting and sustaining the anti-racism work underway across the CSU’s 23 campuses.

At Cal Poly Pomona, the Office of Inclusive Excellence, with support from the Kellogg Legacy Foundation, will present the Juneteenth Block Party & Celebration at the Bronco Commons and the Bronco Student Center. There will be free food, games, education, and entertainment.
