After 12 Years in that position, she was appointed the first Navy Diversity Officer for the U.S. Department of the Navy.
Throughout the webinar, CEO of Career Communications Group Tyrone Taborn engaged Ms. Emerson in a dialogue that addressed the noticeable lack of women in technology and discussed why this is a growing problem. The conversation included direct questions from listeners who were trying to make a name for themselves in the technology field, but also faced obstacles which hindered them from the recognition that they deserved. Not only did Emerson share examples of the barriers that underrepresented women faced while climbing the ladder to a successful career in technology, but she provided listeners with important career tips that they should consider from the start of their careers.
The second Women of Color in STEM webinar will premiere Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 11 a.m. EST.
