David Albritton selected to join the board of directors of Embecta Corporation

Global medical technology company, Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD), has announced that Embecta Corp. will hold BD's Diabetes Care business upon completion of the spinoff, and will be governed by a nine-person board of directors. Once constituted, the board is expected to include David J. Albritton, founder and chief executive officer of Nineteen88 Strategies, a business strategy specialist firm.

"Thrilled and honored to have been selected to join the board of directors of Embecta Corp. ("embecta"), the Diabetes Care business of Becton, Dickinson and Company," wrote Albritton on LinkedIn. "Excited about the possibilities ahead for this new business that will be the leading producer of diabetes injection devices," Albritton continued. "What an amazing opportunity to pursue new and innovative solutions that will provide a better life for the hundreds of millions of people living with diabetes - which includes family members and friends of mine that I love dearly. I can't wait to get started."

In November 2020, Albritton joined Amazon Web Services as vice president of communications for the public sector and vertical industries. Prior, he spent five years at General Motors, most recently as president of GM Defense, the aerospace and defense business unit of GM.

Albritton began at GM following the sale of Exelis Inc., a global aerospace defense, information, and technology services company, to Harris Corp. in 2015. He was Exelis' vice president and chief communications officer, a role he assumed upon the spinoff from ITT Corporation in 2011, where he was vice president, communications at ITT Defense. He also held leadership roles in Raytheon, HP/Compaq, and Sears. Early in his career, Albritton spent 10 years in the U.S. Navy as a surface warfare officer and public affairs officer.
