The St. Louis Gateway Professional chapter of NSBE has announced a park dedication ceremony to honor Brigadier General C. David Turner Park.
Turner, the 2014 Black Engineer of the Year Stars and Stripes Army Award winner, retired as commander of the South Pacific Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in July 2017. As commander, he oversaw planning and construction of projects to protect America’s water resources, and enhance the environment in a 250,000 square mile area.
The general is currently president, American Water, Military Services Group.
According to the invite on Eventbrite, the park to be renamed Brigadier General C. David Turner Park is located between Lithia and Eldridge Avenues, and between Rock Hill Road and Plateau Ave. in Rock Hill, MO 63119.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Turner graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a bachelor's degree in mathematical sciences. In 2014 he was named a University of Central Missouri Distinguished Alumni.
Gen. Turner's awards include seven Meritorious Service Medals, the 2009 Black Engineer of the Year for Award for Professional Achievement in Government, and the 2016 ROCKs Inc. ROCK of the Year Award.
